Nail Polish

What does this do to or environment?

Lovely, stylish nails add the perfect touch to your look, however, the chemicals present in this line of products tend to be difficult for the environment to take in. Dibutyl phthalate, or DBP, is the chemical added to nail polish to keep the paint from becoming brittle. DBP is introduced into the environment when polish is removed and discarded. DBP accumulates in the environment and affects a wide variety of aquatic species. A highly DBP toxic environment causes death to all organisms in the ecosystem.

What is the Alternative?

  • Some easily accessible products are available at your local store. And one of them is Piggy paint. They are non-toxic, chemical-free paint, and are low-odor. There are no toxic chemicals; free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, Bisphenol A, ethyl acetate, and acetone.
